Choosing the Size of your Pattern
We recommend that you always choose your size based on your body measurements and not personal size expectations. Always check pattern listing descriptions before purchasing to make sure you know what sizes are included in your purchase. Please note that all brands fits differently and we cannot guarantee that our sizes will line up with other brands.

How to chose correct size
When making a garment there are a few basic measurements you’ll need, and it’s important to get them right so that you can choose the appropriate size.
Important! Keep in mind that its always easier to remove the excess, than adding extra centimeters to the cloth.
Measuring Bust
The measurement around the fullest part of your bust. Ensure that the tape measure is level with the ground and flat, don’t pull too tightly and ensure that you are wearing the bra you will wear when your garment is completed. Keep in mind that the bra you wear can greatly impact not only your bust measurement but also the fit of your garment.
Compare your measurement with the values in the chart and choose your size.
- If your BU measurement is 0,5 – 1,5 cm smaller than the chart (for example 87 cm), choose a larger size pattern (size 38 – corresponding to girth 88 cm)
- If your BU measurement is 0,5 – 1,5 cm greater than the chart (for example 89 cm), choose the smaller size (size 38 – corresponding to 88 cm)
- If your BU measurement is +/- 2 cm different from the chart, we recommend choosing a larger size for tighter items and a smaller size for loose items.
Measuring Waist
Measure around the narrowest part of your midsection. Again ensure that the tape measure is level and flat and ensure you don’t ‘suck in’ your stomach. Breath normally and relax.
Measuring Hip
This is different to your anatomical hip, when we talk about hip in garment making we are talking about the widest part of your lower body. This may be closer to being around your bottom, or upper thigh. As a trick try shifting the tape measure up and down a bit until you find your widest part.
Compare your measurement with the values in the chart and choose your size.
- If your HU measurement is 0,5 – 1,5 cm smaller than the chart (for example 95 cm), choose a larger size pattern (size 38 – corresponding to 96 cm)
- If your HU measurement is 0,5 – 1,5 cm greater than the chart (for example 97.5 cm), choose the smaller size (size 38 – corresponding to 96 cm)
- If your HU measurement is +/- 2 cm different from the chart, we recommend choosing a larger size for tighter items and a smaller size for loose items.
Important! If your figure has a pronounced protruding belly, the measurement of the hips should take into account the protrusion. To do this, use a thick sheet of paper or cardboard applied to the belly and down to the thighs.
